The people behind International Interest New Zealand

A small, New Zealand-based project. We publish youth-crime figures in one place so ordinary people can see them without wading through agency tables.

Brodie Richards is a 16-year-old New Zealander and the founder of International Interest New Zealand. He started the project because official crime numbers exist: they are just hard to find, easy to bury, and rarely put next to population share so a reader can see the scale.

Mission

Put New Zealand first in the conversation about youth crime: measure it, show who is in the proceedings relative to the population, and keep the methodology honest. Readers should not need a research degree to see a ten-year trend, an unsolved rate, or a district comparison.

The standard is facts over commentary. Charts before slogans. If a figure is compiled or rounded, the Methodology page says so. If an agency revises a year, treat this dashboard as a snapshot, not gospel.

What Brodie is building

  • A single public dashboard for youth (10-19) proceedings, ethnicity mix, clearance, and districts.
  • A visual identity people can recognise: the kiwi mark, navy, and a New Zealand-first brief.
  • A presence on X at @NatInterestNZ so the numbers travel further than a spreadsheet.
